Principal: JOSEPH MORRISSEY
As a third generation Solicitor Joseph commenced his legal career in 1988 as a Law Clerk working with his father and brother in the old Sydney law firm, Murphy & Moloney (now part of Hunt & Hunt). Joseph’s grandfather was also a partner of the firm during its earlier years retiring in about 1950.
Working at Murphy & Moloney Joseph gained valuable hands on experience in legal practice over a period of 5 years whilst studying the Law. Joseph was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1992. After a further two years practicing in Sydney Joseph relocated to the South Coast of NSW in 1994 working with a firm in Ulladulla for ten years. Joseph then undertook further study in Mediation and Collaborative Law completing a Graduate Certificate in Mediation with Relationships Australia in 2007, Collaborative Law training with the University of Technology, Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution.
Joseph has experience in most areas of legal practice and has represented clients in a wide range of matters including civil disputes, family law and property disputes, conveyancing and property matters, Elder law including Wills, Enduring Guardianship, Powers of Attorney, Deceased Estate administration and Wills disputes.
Although Joseph has conducted litigation matters on behalf of his clients over the years, he now sees alternative dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation and collaboration as a better way to settle disputes and accepts instructions predominantly in matters he considers capable of resolution by these methods.
Joseph has considerable mediation experience both as mediator and in a supervisory role. He has conducted mediation in family law parenting and property settlements, deceased estate claims, work place disputes and retirement village conflicts. For approximately five years Joseph worked with Nowra Family Relationships Centre in a mediator and supervisory role. Joseph is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP).
