The Upper Goulburn River from Jamieson to Woods Point offers some of the best trout fishing in the area with cooler waters and high trout numbers. Gaffneys Creek, located on the Woods Point Road is a smalll tributary of the Goulburn River subject to wide fluctuations in water level and flow, and an important trout nursery stream for the River. Species are predominantly brown trout and rainbow trout to 250g, numerous river blackfish to 100g and redfin.

Victoria’s North East high country rivers have constantly proven to be a haven for both the experienced and the recreational trout fisherman and over the past several years additional river access points have been established on the Upper Goulburn River between Jamieson and Knockwood along the Mansfield/Woods Point road.
